CBC reporter Elizabeth Hames has released a 5 part series about problem properties in Edmonton's inner city. The title, Slumtown, has not been sitting so well with all area residents. The content has had people talking and brought up a number of feelings. In our first episode of It's All Good In The Hood, I look at historical crime statistics for the City of Edmonton and compare neighbourhoods and find that other areas in the city have just as much or more crime, but do not have the same reputation. I talk to local realtor Michelle Patterson-Nipp about people's perceptions of our area versus reality. We discuss why people want to live in the area and the numerous positives of living in the area. Listen here.
